Are you looking for a church near you? We love Sunday meetings and ours are easy to access wherever you live in Newcastle or Gateshead. Every week we gather as a family to worship & encounter Jesus, and everyone is welcome. We would love you to find a place to call home here!
What to expect
Over the Summer 2025 church will look slightly different. We have felt God calling the church into a time of rest whilst we pursue Him. So from Sun 29th June - Sun 31st August we will be running as a home church in Wallsend. We wanted to make some space for the church who serve so faithfully to make our Sunday meetings happen to come and be refreshed by spending time in community, focused on Jesus before we move to our new venue in Sandyford this September. We’d love you to come and join us this summer.
Our Sunday meeting will start at 10:30am with a small brunch. We will worship together through songs then will be working through the book Gentle and Lowly by Dane C. Ortlund. This book is based on Matthew 11 where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. In a world so full of hurry and hustle, it’s so important to come back to the perfect shepherd and ensure our hearts and actions are focused on Him and His Word.
Our church meeting finishes around midday. You can expect a brew and a very warm welcome when you arrive, we are a community where you can come as you are and find somewhere to belong. Absolutely anyone and everyone is welcome to join us, whatever your background, beliefs or you could have been to church a hundred times or never in your life - we’d love to see you this coming Sunday!
What about kids?
Children and families are a core part of The River Church Newcastle, we want people to find their home with us, no matter their age! Over the summer there won’t be a formal children’s work but there will be a different craft/resource pack available each week for families to use.

Join us this Sunday at 10.30am on Park Avenue, in Wallsend.
Our Summer Sunday meetings are held at Park Avenue in Wallsend (click for directions), if you’re coming by car there is free parking on Albert Avenue which is only a 2 minute walk away. Please be aware Park Avenue is permitted and small so please avoid parking on this road. If you are coming on public transport then Wallsend metro stop is only 10 minutes walk.

What time should I arrive?
The service starts at 10.30am, but come any time from 10.15am - we’d love to welcome you with a hot drink and some snacks and get to know you a little bit before we start.

How do I get there?
We will be meeting on Park Avenue in Wallsend, NE28 8QD this summer. Look out for The River Church flag on the street and you’ll know you’re in the right place!
There is parking 2 minutes away on Albert Avenue and we’re easily accessible by bus or metro.

What do I wear?
Our meetings are relaxed and informal, so please wear whatever you're most comfortable in. Football shirts or formal Sunday wear welcome!
