Are you looking for a church near you? We love Sunday meetings and ours are easy to access wherever you live in Newcastle or Gateshead. Every week we gather as a family to worship & encounter Jesus, and everyone is welcome. We would love you to find a place to call home here!
What to expect
Our Sunday church meeting starts at 10:30am we worship together through songs and taking communion, then hear teaching from the Bible and finish with some space to pray and reflect on what you have heard that morning. Our church meeting finishes at 12:15am. You can expect a brew and a very warm welcome when you arrive, and at the end most people stay around for a time to chat and connect as a church family - we’d love for you to stay around to say hello, again over drinks and snacks.
Absolutely anyone and everyone is welcome to join us, whatever your background, beliefs or you could have been to church a hundred times or never in your life - we’d love to see you this coming Sunday!
What about kids?
Children and families are a core part of The River Church Newcastle, we want people to find their home with us, no matter their age! River Kids runs on a Sunday for children aged 1-11.
Children stay in the meeting for the first part of worship and then head downstairs to our River Kids space for worship and teaching tailored to them (with a lot of fun, games and snacks thrown in!) You can find more information on our kids page.

Join us this Sunday at 10.30am Newcastle High Junior School in Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Our Sunday meetings are held in Sandyford at NHSG Junior School (click for directions), which is just outside the center of Newcastle upon Tyne near Jesmond. If you’re coming by car there is a free car park on the school grounds or we are easy to access by public transport. Just a 10 minute walk from Jesmond metro or catch the 307 or 309 Cobalt & Coast bus to Sandyford Road. Click here for more information on how to find us.

What time should I arrive?
The service starts at 10.30am, but come any time from 10.15am - we’d love to welcome you with a hot drink and some snacks and get to know you a little bit before we start.

How do I get there?
From September 2025 we will meet at NHSG Junior School in Sandyford, NE2 1TA every Sunday. There is plenty of parking on site including disabled spaces and the school is fully accessible. We’re easily accessible by bus or metro - find out more here
If you come off the Coast Road (A1058) in Jesmond onto Sandyford Road, the school is on the left in “Sandyford Park” - drive past the retirement home into the school gates and you will find the car park.

What do I wear?
Our meetings are relaxed and informal, so please wear whatever you're most comfortable in. Football shirts or formal Sunday wear welcome!
